BOOK TALKS
Sept 5
Hear about love, ambition, scandal and secrets.
I often speak to clubs and community groups about my latest book, Poisoning on Parker Road: One family, two deaths and all the drama in between.
Do contact me for your fundraiser or social. I’m just right for an audience that needs to relish history that’s riveting, not dull. This true story reveals the journey I took in unearthing a 19th century tale that began in Auckland and had a surprise ending in California, 130 years later.

ART ON SHOW
Sept 12 - Sept 26
The Frankly Small Art Show, Pukekohe, Franklin.
I’m showing three collage pieces in a new series called Atlas Art. They’re intentionally small because, well, it’s about ‘small art’ (under 40cm) – but this annual event is also big on the South Auckland art calendar. Why Atlas Art? Because it incorporates images from retro road maps and vintage atlases.
The idea emerged from a great little art course I attended in Scotland this year, run by wildattartscotland.com
I foraged for local grasses and leaves to use in printmaking and assembled pieces of those images with map clippings to create square works. They reflect the world that existed on paper before GPS could pinpoint us all.
The look is also inspired by geometric patterns often seen in old stained glass windows. All framed, all for sale.
New Zealand Steel Gallery, Franklin Arts Centre,
12 Massey Ave, Pukekohe.
9.30 AM – 4.30 PM

ARTPOINT NIGHT MARKET
Oct 22
ArtPoint Night Art Market is an evening event showcasing local artists, makers and performers at Hobsonville Point in northwest Auckland.
I’ll be showing six round works on 60cm-wide wood panels. I was inspired by the Booker Prize-winning novel Orbital. It’s about astronauts on the International Space Station, living life high above the awe-inspiring sight of Earth’s moods and colours.
My work blends acrylics, pastels and collage, sometimes involving old maps, to create impressions of our glowing planet.
Catalina Bay Farmers Market
Launch Road, Hobsonville Point
4:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Note: There’s street parking at end of Launch Road. Take the steps down to the market. It’s close to the Hobsonville Point Ferry Wharf.
