ArtPoint is Hobsonville Point’s annual art show, put on by residents
all around my northwest Auckland neighbourhood.
It’s a great stroll around to admire some local artists’ work.
I’m involved with two other writers, Helen Ellis and Eileen, in creating a literary corner
where we’ll be talking creativity with words rather than images.
Helen writes helpfully about the challenges facing families
whose members are scattered around the world, Eileen creates short stories,
and I write fiction and non-fiction.
I'll have two of my books on hand for sale – novel Scarlet & Magenta
and my recently published true-crime story - Poisoning on Parker Rod.
We’ll be on hand for chats (and some snacks) from 10am to 4pm.

Help out a west Auckland treasure - the Oratia Folk Museum.
Oratia'a sweet little museum on West Coast Road urgently needs some TLC.
Come support it by visiting 108 Parker Road on Nov 23
for an inspiring helping of story, atmosphere and community spirit.
There'll be Devonshire tea and I'll be talking about a little-known Waitakere drama.
It's all in my book, Poisoning on Parker Road, about what happened in 1892
at this house named Sunnydale. Owner Carolyn Melling will share her insights on
Sunnydale's own story as West Auckland's oldest home.
There's delicious Devonshire tea included in the ticket price.
All proceeds from ticket sales go towards maintenance costs
for the community’s beloved museum.
The museum, once an original settler's cottage, played a part in the Sunnydale story.
Don't miss out on this chance to hear fascinating detail about
an old scandal that affected lives right around the world.
There'll be books for sale for $30 (a special reduced price for this event,
with cash preferred - good Christmas gifts!).
Support a good cause while enjoying a unique peek into this
character-filled house and its lush garden.
Tickets at Eventbrite. https://tinyurl.com/526bjxeu
